In 2013, Deepwater Wind won the auction to develop the first offshore wind farm in the United States. Slated to open later this year, the Block Island Wind Farm will be a 30 megawatt, 5 turbine farm which will supply most of Block Island’s power as well as reduce air pollution across southern New England.

In partnership with the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources and Deepwater Wind, NASEO is coordinating a site visit on Wednesday, September 14, from 10:00 a.m. to approximately 2:00 p.m. (please note that timing is subject to change). The visit will include a ferry trip and boxed lunch to see the ongoing construction as well as presentations by various project partners.

The site visit is open only to registered Annual Meeting participants and there is an additional $50.00 non-refundable registration fee. Space on the ferry is limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Once the tour is filled, participants will be placed on a waiting list. When registering for the Annual Meeting please make sure to check the "Block Island Wind Farm Site Visit" box.
